Question 1

I just graduated from high school. Can I travel with you already?

Yes, as soon as you have received your high school diploma, you can start your nursing internship and have the opportunity to travel abroad with us. It is important to note that the nursing internship for medical studies may only be started after you have received your high school diploma. Only then will it be officially recognized and credited by the universities and the State Examination Office (LPA) for medical studies.

Once you have started your medical studies, you can only complete the nursing internship during the lecture-free period, in a semester off, or in a semester of leave. This is a rule that is strictly adhered to by most universities and the LPA to ensure that your studies are not affected by other commitments.

Question 2

Do I need any specific vaccinations?

Yes, certain vaccinations are required for the hospital project, which may vary depending on the destination country and the requirements of the respective hospital. These mandatory vaccinations are determined in close consultation with our partner clinics and are necessary to ensure your protection and that of the patients. As a rule, the mandatory vaccinations include vaccinations against hepatitis A and B, measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), as well as a valid tetanus and diphtheria vaccination. Some clinics also require vaccinations against tuberculosis (BCG) or a current influenza vaccination.

In addition, depending on the destination, the State Department recommends further vaccinations that are not mandatory but are strongly advised. These recommendations are based on country-specific health risks. For many of our destination countries—such as Sri Lanka, Nepal, or Indonesia—these include vaccinations against hepatitis A, typhoid, rabies, and possibly also yellow fever, depending on which regions you will be traveling to. The STIKO (Standing Committee on Vaccination) also issues recommendations for travel vaccinations, which we include in our consultation.

To ensure that you are well prepared, we will provide you with a complete list of mandatory and recommended vaccinations in good time. Do I need a visa?

Yes, depending on your destination country, you will need a specific visa to complete your internship abroad. We will, of course, be at your side and support you throughout the entire process.

In Sri Lanka and Nepal, you can easily apply for a visa via an online portal. After booking, you will receive step-by-step instructions from us. For Bali, on the other hand, you will need a special visa, which is applied for in close cooperation with the local university. But don't worry, we take care of all the formalities and tell you exactly which visa you need for your destination country. We guide you step by step through the entire application process or take care of it completely for you, so you can prepare for your trip without worrying about the bureaucracy.

If you have a German or Austrian residence permit, you can also apply for your visa without any problems. So don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or need assistance with your visa application. We are always available to help and will make sure that everything runs smoothly.

Question 4

How far in advance should I plan my trip?

For a trip during the semester break, we recommend that you plan about 6 months in advance. Demand is particularly high during the semester break, as many students use this time to complete their mandatory internship abroad. Unfortunately, we only have a limited number of places available per period, as our partner hospitals can only offer a certain number of internships. Therefore, early planning is essential to secure a place and complete the necessary organizational steps such as visa applications, vaccinations, and flight bookings in good time.

Outside of the semester breaks, however, it is often possible to travel at short notice, provided you meet the basic requirements. These primarily include completed vaccinations, which vary depending on the destination country and hospital requirements, as well as a valid passport. Ideally, your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your planned arrival date, as many countries require this as a condition of entry.

So if you are interested in a spontaneous trip outside of the semester breaks, we can often respond more quickly and offer you a place at short notice, provided you meet the above requirements. Question 5

I am not yet of legal age, can I still travel abroad with you?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it is also possible to travel with us before your 18th birthday, as long as we have a letter of consent from your parents. We already have experience organizing trips for participants under the age of 18, so minors can also travel abroad with us safely and well looked after.

The consent form from your parents is particularly important here, as it officially confirms that they agree to your participation in the trip. As soon as we have this document, nothing stands in the way of your adventure! Of course, we attach particular importance to ensuring that younger participants in particular are well looked after and can gain experience in a safe environment.

This gives you the opportunity to have exciting experiences abroad before your 18th birthday, without having to wait until you reach the age of majority.

Question 6

Will my internship, clinical internship, or practical year definitely be credited?

Yes, we select our partner hospitals abroad very carefully and ensure that they meet the high standards required for recognition by the state examination boards (LPAs). We work exclusively with recognized clinics that function as teaching hospitals and are affiliated with universities in the respective destination country. This ensures that the medical training on site meets the required quality standards and that your internship is recognized by German and Austrian universities and LPAs.
