All medical students in Germany must complete at least 90 days of nursing internship as part of their studies.

The nursing internship can be divided into units of at least 30 days.

The nursing internship can be completed at the earliest after obtaining a university entrance qualification (HZB) or high school diploma.

Nursing internships abroad are recognized if the institutions meet certain criteria.

The nursing internship can only be completed during the lecture-free period or during a semester off.

The nursing internship must be completed by the end of the second academic year, as it is a prerequisite for admission to the first state examination.
