Clinical internship abroad

All medical students in Germany must complete at least 4 months of clinical training: 2 months in a hospital, 1 month in outpatient care, and 1 month in primary care.

Clinical placements must be completed during the lecture-free period or during a semester off.

Clinical rotations can be split up. The minimum duration depends on the federal state—check this with your university in advance! In most cases, the minimum duration is 15 days.

Clinical placements abroad are recognized if the institutions meet certain criteria.

All Austrian medical students must complete a 12-week clinical internship.
